President's Message

Hello wonderful Smith families and Happy 2026!

I can’t believe we are already halfway through the school year. While January is a bit quieter in terms of scheduled activities, it’s the perfect time to pause and say THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers.

Whether you’ve helped in the classroom, organized "over-the-top" room parties, chaired a committee, or served on our PTA Board. We truly couldn’t do this without you. Your support makes everything possible!

Speaking of board members… it’s that time of year! We are officially forming our Nominating Committee for the 2026/2027 school year.

This is a simple but vital role. As part of the committee, you’ll join a brief "meeting of the minds" via Zoom to help identify and select the best candidates for our future board. It’s a great way to have a direct impact on our school’s leadership with a very small time commitment.

Not ready for the Board or a Committee? Check out our General PTA Committee list included in this newsletter! If a board position feels like a big leap, our committees are a fun, low-pressure way to give back to our students. Please reach out with any questions. We’d love to have you!

Open PTA Positions

We have the following open Chair positions for our PTA:

Chair of Assemblies - Work with the PTA to pick and schedule the wonderful assemblies for the school throughout the year.

Nominating Committee

At the end of each school year, the Smith PTA votes to elect new officers into the PTA Executive Board. In order to do this, a Nominating Committee of five PTA members is formed with the task of recognizing and seeking qualified nominees for the elected leaders of our PTA. This commitment only includes 1 or 2 quick Zoom meetings!

Kids Against Hunger

Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to children and families facing hunger around the world. Through hands-on service, students help assemble meal kits that are shipped to communities in need.

This meaningful event takes place during the school day and gives students the opportunity to assemble bags of dry food ingredients that will be sent to children across the globe. Last year, our students packed over 16,000 meals — an incredible accomplishment!

Parent volunteers are needed to assist with student organization, weighing and sealing the bags, and boxing the completed meals for shipment. This is a heartwarming opportunity for students to experience the joy of helping others, but the event would not be possible without the support of our amazing parent volunteers.
