Smith Green Team collaborates with Smith Families to earn CA$H for our school by using things families already have in their homes and also by recycling items that would normally go into landfills. By participating in several different programs such as Box Tops 4 Education, Terracycle and others we earn money for sports and computer equipment. Each of our programs is detailed below.

We encourage Parents, Teachers, Staff and students to participate year round by collecting items for these programs. Don’t just collect from your own home, ask your extended families, your neighbors and even local businesses you might know if they would be willing to collect as well.


Current Programs

Box Tops 4 Education

This is one of the nation’s largest programs that helps schools earn money, since 1996 they have paid schools over $715 million dollars. This is why over 80,000 schools are enrolled in this program. There are hundreds of participating Box Top products that you already buy every day.

The Box Top for education program is changing the way we can earn cash for school!

Over the summer participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Top clips, to the new Box Top label. Going forward instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates , all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Top for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW and improved, user friendly Box Top mobile App, available now. Be sure to go to the App store to download and start “clipping” today!

Make sure you download the Box Tops 4 Education Bonus App on your mobile devices to earn bonus points for our school and to access coupons for participating Box Top products. It is super easy and convenient to use, select the bonus offer, buy the qualifying products and take a picture of your receipt. Eligible points are awarded to Smith School.

TerraCycle **ON HOLD **

TerraCycle is an innovative recycling company that has become a global leader in recycling hard-to-recycle waste. They offer a range of free programs that are funded by conscientious companies, as well as recycling solutions available for purchase for almost every form of waste. We box up these items at our collection events and send them to TerraCycle and when they receive the minimum weight requirement from Smith, the send us a check!

Items collected may include:

    • Plastic CRV beverage bottles
    • GoGo squeeze- any brand of these food pouches
    • Cereal bags/liners
    • Personal care/Beauty product plastic bottles
    • Oral Care- toothpaste tubes & boxes, toothbrushes, dental floss boxes
    • Wine Corks – Natural cork only

Coca-Cola Gives

The Coca-Cola Gives program is a label clip and redeem program. Simply clip the code labels (keep caps) from packages of Coca-Cola products and drop them in the Box Tops can in the office. For every code redeemed our school receives money. Visit to find out more.

Cartridges For Kids

CFK (Cartridges for Kids®) is a recycling program that pays schools and non-profit organizations CA$H for:cell phones, laser & inkjet cartridges, laptops, iPods® and tablets/eReaders/notebooks. Bring these items to one of our collection events and CFK will send us a check!

Other ways to help Smith earn money

Ewaste4Good

Do you have broken TVs, monitors, computers, washers/dryers, microwaves, cell phones, printers and more sitting around in your garage, home or office? Then contact Ewaste4Good! They will come to your driveway or office and pick it all up for you for FREE! They will recycle the items and send the proceeds to Smith!

We are always in need of the following help:

  • Volunteers for Collection Events:
    • Sort and organize recyclables
    • Count items – generally needed from 12:45 to 2:15
    • Redemption Table – generally needed from 12:45 to 2:30
  • Box Top Counting – This post-event task that can be done at home and can also be shared amongst several volunteers.
